Small-Leaved lime tree (Tilia cordata) in a pot
The Small-Leaved Lime is a graceful and versatile tree, celebrated for its heart-shaped leaves and sweetly scented, pale-yellow summer flowers. A magnet for pollinators, this tree supports wildlife while adding a touch of elegance to larger gardens, parks, or open spaces. Thriving in a variety of soils and conditions, including urban environments, the Small-Leaved Lime is robust and easy to maintain.
At maturity, it typically reaches a height of 20–30 metres with a spread of 10+ metres, forming a beautifully rounded canopy, so requires planting in a large open space. Its dense foliage provides excellent shade, while the soft rustle of its leaves adds a calming ambience to any landscape. Perfect for those seeking a classic, wildlife-friendly tree with timeless charm.

Why buy a potted trees vs a bareroot?
Cotswold Trees supply potted trees as we have found these have the best chance of survival and do allow you to plant trees throughout the year. The cooler, wetter months are always the best time to plant a tree and allow it to establish a new root system whilst it remains fairly dormant. Despite this, potted trees can be planted successfully throughout the spring and summer if they are well looked after.
You may find other suppliers offer bareroot and plug plants which are often cheaper options, especially when buying trees in bulk, but these tend to take a little longer to establish.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
