Description

With its striking orange and red striped fruits and unique sweet-tart flavour, Rainbow Orange 'Arcobal' stands apart from other citrus varieties. This exceptional citrus is a cross between a Meyer's lemon and a blood orange, delivering a one-of-a-kind balance of sweetness and tartness. As summer fades into autumn and the nights grow cooler, the slightly elongated fruits develop red shades to both their rind and juicy flesh, adding to their visual and culinary appeal.

Beyond its remarkable fruit, this variety offers year-round beauty. Lush, evergreen foliage provides a vibrant backdrop for clusters of waxy, fragrant white flowers that bloom from spring to autumn, filling the air with their sweet perfume. Whether grown in a pot on a sunny patio or in a frost-free greenhouse, this citrus tree captivates with its ornamental charm and delicious harvest.

This frost tender tree is best grown in large containers on a sunny, sheltered patio for the summer and moved to a frost-free position indoors from autumn to spring. Alternatively, it suits growing in a frost free conservatory/heated greenhouse all year round.

Height: 3m (9.8ft). Spread: 2.5m (8.2ft).

How to Grow
Plant citrus trees in patio containers in a mix of ericaceous compost and neutral, soil based compost. Repot the plant at its original soil level and firm well into the new container. Water well and position in a frost free position in full sun.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Stand citrus trees outside from May to October. Water freely in summer and mist leaves daily to increase humidity and discourage pests. Feed with citrus plant fertiliser every 2 weeks. Move plants indoors from October to a bright, frost free position (4-12°C) away from cold draughts and radiators. Reduce watering in winter but do not let the plant dry out completely. Too much or too little water may cause the fruits to drop.
