Description
Seldom found in UK gardens this stunning deciduous shrub makes a superb specimen for late winter borders. Pendants of tiny, bell shaped flowers dangle from naked, bronze coloured stems, providing valuable nectar for early pollinating insects. Its arching branches give Stachyurus praecox an architectural, rounded habit when grown as a free standing specimen, or they can be trained onto wires to make a majestic wall shrub. Awarded an RHS AGM for its garden performance, this spectacular shrub is hardy and easy to grow, but does require a non-alkaline soil. Height and spread: 3m (10’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

2 x 9cm potted stachyurus plants (T80128P)

How to Grow
Stachyurus requires a moist, fertile, non-alkaline soil. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade with shelter from cold winds.
More Info
Once established, Stachyurus requires little maintenance. Prune stems back by a third after flowering in late spring, to maintain a neat, tidy shape.
