Description

Spiraea prunifolia 'Goldfire' is a deciduous shrub celebrated for its striking golden-yellow foliage in spring, which transitions to green during the summer months. This plant is also distinguished by its abundant clusters of double white flowers that bloom along its gracefully arching stems, adding visual appeal to gardens throughout the growing season. Its rounded growth habit makes it an excellent choice for borders and informal hedges, providing multi-season interest.

The shrub typically reaches a height and spread of approximately 150 cm (59 inches), making it a versatile addition to various garden settings. The foliage not only offers vibrant colors in spring and summer but often transforms to a captivating orange-red in autumn, enhancing the seasonal display. 'Goldfire' thrives in full sun to partial shade and is adaptable to a range of soil types, provided they are moist yet well-drained.

In terms of maintenance, this hardy plant is drought-tolerant once established and requires moderate watering. To promote healthy growth, it is advisable to prune after flowering by cutting back the spent shoots to strong buds and periodically removing older stems. Additionally, the flowers of 'Goldfire' attract beneficial pollinators such as bees and hoverflies, making it a valuable addition to any garden focused on supporting wildlife.
