Description

Create a buzz in your garden with beautiful, nectar-rich Scabious ‘Blue’. A wildlife garden essential and also very well suited to informal cottage gardens, Scabious flowers have long been loved for their ethereal, airy looks and also for being hugely popular with butterflies as well as bees and other pollinators. Pincushion flowers on multiple stems throughout the summer provide a bright pop of colour, held above wiry stems which sway in the breeze. Long-lasting, hardy and resilient, they’re a reliable and easy-to-grow gem of a plant which looks absolutely beautiful at the front of the mixed border and in containers. Height: 45cm (18”). Spread: 45cm (18”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up plants using free-draining compost, and grow scabious on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. Choose a sunny position on fertile, well drained, neutral to alkaline soil that is not excessively wet in winter.
More Info
Water scabious plants until they are fully established. Deadhead faded scabious flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
