Description

Rose 'Jam-A-Licious' is a delightful compact shrub that not only enhances your garden's aesthetic but also supports local wildlife. This bushy rose features striking single blooms in a vibrant fuchsia-pink, each measuring approximately 5 cm in diameter and adorned with prominent golden-yellow stamens. The flowering period typically spans from late spring to early summer, with the most abundant display occurring in May and June. As the season progresses, the plant transitions beautifully, showcasing glossy green foliage that transforms into a stunning array of burgundy, orange, gold, and violet hues during the autumn months.

In addition to its visual appeal, 'Jam-A-Licious' produces large, scarlet-red hips that develop in late summer, around August to September. These hips are not only ornamental but also edible, making them perfect for crafting homemade jams or jellies. The rose is particularly beneficial for the ecosystem, attracting pollinators while in bloom and providing sustenance for birds once the hips are ripe. Its hardiness makes it well-suited for various garden settings, including wildlife gardens, informal hedges, mixed borders, or even container arrangements.

This rose variety is remarkably low maintenance, thriving in the UK’s climate and tolerating exposed locations as well as poor soil conditions. With good disease resistance, it requires minimal care, needing only a light pruning in late winter to maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth. Reaching a height of about 120 cm (47 inches) and a spread of 80 cm (31 inches), 'Jam-A-Licious' is an excellent choice for gardeners seeking a resilient and visually captivating addition to their outdoor spaces.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
