Flowering Months
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, lavatera plants require only occasional attention. Pruning lavatera is best undertaken in spring when all risk of frost has passed and the buds begin to swell. Prune all stems hard to about 30cm above ground level. Mallow can be slow to break bud in spring so be patient with plants that might appear to have died over winter as they may still be dormant.
Pot up plug plants and grow them on in frost free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise mallow to outdoor conditions for a period of 7 to 10 days. Transplant lavatera plants into borders and containers outdoors in moist, well drained soil in full sun. When growing lavatera in containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.

Yellowing Leaves 2016-09-06

I purchased a Lavatera Barnsley and it is now in a pot. It grew well but is now showing signs of yellowing the leaves and slow growth.

T&M replied on 2016-06-09: Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to learn of your disappointment with your purchase. At your earliest convenience please contact our Customer Care Department at ccare@thompson-morgan.com, one of our agents will be more than happy to look into this further for you.

Nothing yet! 2015-09-30

Plant still healthy and looking good but not produced any flowers at all this summer.

T&M replied on 2015-10-01: Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am pleased to read that you have been happy with your order. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

When??? 2015-06-10

When can I expect flowers from the Barnsley baby plants purchased earlier this year?

T&M replied on 2015-10-06: Thank you for your review. The flowering period for the 'Barnsley Baby' is from June to September. This year has been particularly poor weather-wise meaning that a lot of plants have not flowered as normal. I would expect that you will see yours flower next year. If there is anything further we can help with, you are welcome to email our Customer Care Team at ccare@thompson-morgan.com.

Barnsley Baby 2014-10-15

I have never bought a Lavatera Barnsley Baby before so am excited about growing it. It seems a superb pot plant and hopefully very hardy as I live in the NE of England.

T&M replied on 2014-10-16: Thank you for your review. I hope we can continue to be of service.
