Description

The Holm Oak is an easy to grow evergreen, which can either be grown as a full-sized tree, or clipped into a hedge. The glossy, tough foliage has a contrasting white underside, and is later accompanied by shiny acorns.

The Holm Oak is ideal for hedging in exposed and coastal areas; plants are exceptionally drought resistant and tolerant of pollution. Plants of Holm Oak are easy to clip and maintain, and can be grown in sun or shade. Height as full-size specimen tree: 25m (80'). Spread: up to 20m (70').

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Holm Oak into any moist, but well-drained soil in full sun or dappled shade. Can be grown as hedging, or as a stand-alone tree, but plant out with an awareness of the final size of the tree. Holm Oak will grow in most positions, including coastal, although avoid cold, inland areas.
More Info
Holm Oak will require very little pruning when grown as a specimen tree, although when growing as a hedge, keep plants trimmed as required through the summer.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
