Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
This stiff, upright perennial makes quite a show! Clusters of scarlet star-shaped flowers perch upon tall, stiff stems throughout midsummer, bringing height and vibrancy to the back of sunny borders. Lychnis chalcedonica enjoys a damp, boggy environment and makes a fine addition to bog gardens and the edge of ponds and streams. Commonly known as Maltese Cross, this hardy perennial also holds an RHS AGM. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Flowering Months
Deadhead faded Lychnis flowers regularly to prolong flowering and prevent unwanted seedlings. In autumn, cut back the old foliage and faded flower stems to just above ground level to make way for new growth in the spring.
Grow Lychnis in a sunny or semi shaded position on fertile, well drained soil that remains reliably moist in summer. Also suitable for clay soils, damp or boggy areas and planting around the edges of ponds.
