Description

Bursting with summer charm, Lagerstroemia indica 'Camaieu D'Été' captivates with abundant sprays of frothy pale mauve to white, crepe?textured flowers from mid to late summer. This compact, deciduous shrub features glossy dark green leaves that transform into attractive autumn colours, while its highly decorative bark peels in colourful patches, adding winter interest. With a neat, bushy habit, it works beautifully as a terrace pot specimen, or as a highlight in a sunny border.

Lagerstroemia is well-loved in Mediterranean gardens but is still uncommon in the UK and deserves to be more widely grown. These exuberant shrubs produce a profusion of long-lasting flowers, delivering a stunning summer display. Thriving in warm, sunny spots that allow the wood to mature fully—such as a south-facing wall—they bring long lasting colour to the garden. When grown in containers, they create an eye-catching feature on a warm, south-facing patio and can be moved to a sheltered spot for winter protection. Ultimate height: 2m (6.5ft). Ultimate spread: 1.5m (4.9ft).

How to Grow
Plant Lagerstroemia in any rich fertile soil in full sun. Although reasonably hardy once established, Crepe Myrtle enjoys a hot sheltered position and is best grown against a south facing wall or as a specimen plant in the conservatory.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water Lagerstroemia regularly particularly when grown in containers. Crepe Myrtle plants will appreciate some protection from hard frosts throughout winter. Prune in winter or spring whilst dormant to remove and dead, damaged or misplaced stems and maintain a pleasing shape.
