Description
Glacial blue flowers with frosted white beards crown the upright stems of this magnificent Bearded Iris. You can expect 8-10 blooms per stalk with this free-flowering variety! The cool, harmonious shades of Iris ‘Metolius Blues’ blend effortlessly into cottage garden borders, adding height and structure from June to July. The sword-like foliage forms a neat and compact fan-shape, bringing a lovely vertical accent to planting schemes. The majestic blooms are also perfect for adding drama to summer bouquets, making this a useful choice for the cut flower garden. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 30cm (12").

How to Grow
A sunny position in well drained soil is ideal for growing iris. Bearded iris rhizomes prefer an open position where the rhizomes can bake in the summer sun, without being shaded by other plants. These perennials require a very free draining soil, so amend heavy clay soils with plenty of grit and well rotted manure prior to planting. When planting iris, ensure that the rhizome sits just at the soil surface as they are prone to rot if planted too deeply.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Overcrowded clumps of bearded iris plants can be divided in late summer after flowering. Avoid mulching the rhizomes to prevent them from rotting over winter. Caution: Irritant to skin and eyes. Harmful if eaten.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
