Light green, juicy and sweet fruits with a soft skin
Virtually spineless stems and upright habit
Good tolerance to mildew
Gooseberry Easycrisp® ‘Lady Sun’ delivers sunshine-sweet fruit with outstanding ease and reliability. This vigorous, upright grower produces heavy crops of medium-sized, pale yellow gooseberries that ripen from early July, offering an early mid-season harvest. The berries are exceptionally juicy and very sweet, with soft skin and subtle veining, making them a delight for fresh eating straight from the bush. Often compared to Golden Delicious for its flavour profile, it brings a refined sweetness to summer fruit gardens. With excellent resistance to powdery mildew, a low thorn count and consistently high yields, it combines productivity with user-friendly picking and strong garden performance. Ultimate height and spread: 1.2m (4ft).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Water well for the first year until plants are fully established. When growing gooseberries, the soil must not dry out during hot periods, particularly while the fruit is being formed. Remove any suckers from the base of the plant as they arise. Netting the bushes will help to protect the currants from birds. Harvest some gooseberries for cooking and freezing in May, leaving the remaining fruit to ripen fully in June for eating fresh from the bush.
Prune gooseberry plants in winter. Remove dead, damaged and crossing stems, before thinning the remaining stems to create an upright open bush. Shorten the remaining stems by half. In spring apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil.
