Winner of the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the Year award in 2017! Unlike other varieties, which reach enormous sizes, this dwarf Mulberry can be grown in the smallest of spaces. Compact stems produce juicy Mulberries on both old and new wood, ensuring a plentiful crop. Mulberry 'Charlotte Russe' is self-pollinating, early cropping and continues to fruit over several months. Perfect for growing in the kitchen garden, or planting into patio pots. Height: 2m (78”). Spread: 1.5m (59”).

Grow mulberry trees in moist, slightly acid soil in a sheltered position in full sun. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant mulberries at the same soil level as they were growing at the nursery, and use a tree tie to fasten the tree to the stake.
More Info Fruit and nut trees do not suffer weed competition well, so keep weeds and grass clear from within a 30cm radius of base of the tree. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the tree. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Mulberries can be slow to break bud in the spring so frost damage to flowers rarely occurs. Water mulberry trees well during particularly dry periods.
Mulberries should be allowed to develop naturally, removing only the occasional misplaced or damaged stem. Prune mulberries only while dormant in winter to prevent excessive bleeding of sap.
