Delivery
The stately spires of Delphinium are indispensable for creating height and structure in summer borders. This compact variety boasts all of the vertical drama that you would expect, but at just a fraction of the height! Planted in sunny herbaceous borders, it sends up sturdy stems, crowded with pretty mauve-purple flowers with a glacial white bee at the centre of each bloom.
Delphinium 'Magic Fountains Lavender' is a reliable hardy perennial that suits any planting scheme, from traditional cottage garden borders to contemporary urban gardens. If you can spare a few stems, it also makes a striking cut flower! Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Pot up delphinium plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds, on moist, well drained soil. Protect young delphiniums from slugs and snails.
More Info Feed and water delphinium plants until they are fully established. Delphinium 'Magic Fountains' is a compact variety which should not require staking except on very windy sites. Deadhead faded delphinium flowers to encourage a second flush to be produced. Caution: All parts of delphinium are harmful if eaten and contact with the foliage may irritate the skin and eyes.
