Description

Coprosma repens 'Tequila Sunrise' is a striking evergreen shrub that captivates garden enthusiasts with its glossy, color-shifting leaves. This plant is particularly appreciated for its ability to infuse warmth and contrast into outdoor spaces throughout the year. The leaves are small and oval-shaped, boasting a brilliant lime green center that is beautifully framed by a vivid gold edge. This unique coloration not only enhances the visual appeal of the shrub but also makes it a standout feature in any garden design.

As the seasons change, so does the foliage of 'Tequila Sunrise,' which undergoes a stunning transformation into vibrant shades of fiery orange, amber, and red during the cooler months. This seasonal shift adds an extra layer of interest to the landscape, ensuring that the shrub remains a focal point regardless of the time of year. Naturally compact and mounding in form, it is an excellent choice for creating low hedges, enhancing container displays, or providing structural interest in various garden settings.

Thriving in full sun to partial shade, 'Tequila Sunrise' prefers well-draining soil and is remarkably resilient once established, even tolerating dry conditions. This makes it an ideal candidate for coastal gardens where salt and wind can pose challenges. Its evergreen nature lends a tropical flair, ensuring that it contributes vibrant foliage year-round. While it flourishes in mild UK climates, some protection from severe frost may be necessary. With minimal pruning required to maintain its neat, rounded shape, this shrub is a low-maintenance option that adds a splash of color and life to patios, modern borders, and other garden areas. Height: 100 cm (3.3 ft) Spread: 100 cm (3.3 ft).

How to Grow
In mild locations, grow Coprosma plants outdoors in moist, well drained, non-alkaline soil. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade with shelter from cold winds. Coprosma tolerates salt laden air and makes a good choice for coastal gardens, but will require winter protection during cold periods. In frost-prone locations it is best grown in a patio container and moved to frost free location during the winter months.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Coprosma requires little attention once established but will benefit from a light trim in summer to maintain a neat, rounded shape.
