Flowering Months
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. This variety of clematis flowers in late summer on the current year’s growth. Pruning should be undertaken in spring before active growth begins. When pruning Clematis 'New Love', cut back all of the previous years stems to a pair of healthy buds at around 20cm (8") above ground level. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.
Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3") below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.

TALKING POINT 2016-12-09

I love this plant, it is so different from ordinary Clematis, everybody that sees it asks what is it? The flowers are a lovely shade of blue and in abundance allover. Thank you for introducing this beautiful plant.

Disappointed !! 2016-10-07

I bought this from you in November 15 and all I have to show now is leaves and no flower, is it something I have done wrong?

Thanks 2016-07-13

I would just like to thank you most sincerely for the service you have given me. Today I took delivery of two beautiful Clematis New Love plants, in perfect condition. I originally ordered two of these plants, but when they came in a badly bent and battered box, only one plant was usable (not your fault of course). Thanks again.

wonderful in a pot 2015-09-30

Many comments form garden visitors about this plant not many believing it was a clematis. Looked wonderful from late summer on. Was my first order with t&me. A little surprised by the lack of plant that arrived in may. Planted it up as per instructions. It's now Oct and has grown to over half a meter shrub and has been covered in amazing scented blue flowers for well over a month now. The amount of shoots that grew so quickly suggests an extremely healthy root system. Thank you so much for the lovely new addition to my garden.

Plant growing shoots broken off & no reply from Customer Care! 2015-06-13

I had been wanting to get one of these Clematis New Love for ages, & I ordered one of these as part of a "Bumper Collection", but unfortunately this clematis (& another live plant in the delivery) had both had their growing shoots broken off by a (free) DVD & some leaflets in the package which had slipped down & battered the plants. I eMailed Customer Care & got a reply back saying that they were very busy & so wouldn't be able to reply in their usual timescales. Considering that last time, which was 'normal', I had to eMail a 2nd time and it took 4 days to get a reply, I don't hold out much hope this time. I have ordered from T&M in the past & been very pleased with both seeds and plants, but this year the standards seem to have dropped. Very, very disappointing.

T&M replied on 2015-06-17: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with your order and the service you have received. I have replied to your email, so please check your inbox.

New Love looking Good 2014-12-09

Potted up when received in mid August. Healthy looking plants. Buds starting to appear. Looking forward to smelling the "lovely sweet fragrance". In pots at present as undecided as to where / if to position in border.
