Ceanothus x delilianus 'Henri desfosse' makes a fine specimen plant with large panicles of violet-blue flowers from July to September. The red stems of this spreading, deciduous shrub are cloaked with bright green foliage that makes a handsome backdrop for summer perennials. Perfect for planting at the back of mixed borders, in wildlife areas and cottage garden planting schemes. This robust Californian Lilac is easy to grow in a wide range of soil conditions. Height and spread: 150cm (59”).

How to Grow
Plant Californian Lilac into any fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a position in full sun with shelter from cold, drying winds. Ceanothus may be grown as a free standing specimen or trained against a wall or fence.

During spring each year, trim back the previous year’s flowered stems to within 2 or 3 buds of the woody framework.
