There's no need to search the hedgerows for a bumper crop of blackberries! Now you can pick up to 1.3 kg of large, sweet berries from a single hanging basket planted with Blackberry Black Cascade.

This breakthrough in blackberry breeding enables gardeners to grow blackberries in a totally new setting - no need to walk a country mile to get your harvest, just pop out to the patio and harvest your baskets at leisure. Traditional blackberries are sprawling plants that don't suit a garden setting. For those without the luxury of an allotment or large vegetable patch Blackberry Black Cascade produces compact, arching plants with thornless trailing stems. Each and every stem on the plant produces berries and will crop more than once a season.

The sweet fruits don't have any of the bitterness associated with traditional blackberries - eat them straight from the plant, but try and leave some for kitchen use! Height: 30cm (12"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Please note - if you purchase the Blackberry 'Black Cascade' Collection you will receive the Anthracite Hanging Planters with your 2 x 9cm blackberry potted plants.

Water well particularly during dry periods. Protect the plants from birds which will try to eat the ripening fruit using a net or bird scarer in each pot or basket. Blackberries can be harvested from August onwards. No pruning needed. The very young growth has hairs on the stems and what appear to be thorns on the stem. These actually protect the very young growth whilst the stems develop but as the stem matures these disappear and the Blackberry mature growth is thornless.
Plant blackberry ‘Black Cascade’ bushes in a sunny position in well drained containers in a good quality, rich compost and water well.

Blackberry black cascade 2016-11-18

My three plants Arrived yesterday, they look a bit sorry for themselves but am sure they will pick up once planted..i was just wondering how many plants do i plant in to each basket, all three , or one per basket?

T&M replied on 2016-11-18: Thank you very much for your review. I can confirm with a little water and sunshine your plants will perk up shortly but may not look their best whilst they are currently dormant but this is nothing to worry about. You should plant one per 12/14" basket.

Not thornless as described 2016-11-07

These are described as thornless above but have just received mine and the stems are most definitely spikey. They are only 9cm specimens right now but would be good to know how thorny these will get on the adult plants.

T&M replied on 2016-07-11: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with your purchase. If you would like to contact our Customer Care Department at ccare@thompson-morgan.com, one of our agents will be more than happy to look in to this further for you.

Blackberry Black Cascade 2016-10-25

I have recently received my Black Cascade and have repotted it. I t is a small plant, only one long stem. Do I need to prune it?

T&M replied on 2016-10-25: Thank you for your review. The majority of Fruit shrubs and bushes don't require any pruning in the first year as they fruit on old stems. If you prune your fruit they will have nothing to fruit on next year. If you are concerned with the appearance of your plant, please email ccare@thompson-morgan.com who will be able to help.
