Blackberry 'Reuben' produces fruit like no other variety! With berries weighing up to 11g, each measuring up to 4.5cm in length, a fully mature plant can yield up to 7 x 500g punnets of fruit! These mammoth blackberries taste fabulous straight from the plant and boast an incredible sweetness rating of 11.5 on the Brix scale - a sweet strawberry measures just 8.5 and 9.5. This superb primocane fruits on space saving, upright canes and first years growth so you can enjoy crops even sooner after planting. Self fertile. Height: 2m (6'). Spread: 1.2m (4').

Estimated time to cropping once planted: 8-12 months.
Estimated time to best yields: 20-24 months.

How to Grow
Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the ground prior to planting Blackberries. Plant blackberry bushes in a sunny position in any well drained soil allowing a distance of 90cm (36") between plants. Firm in and water well. Primocane Blackberries should be pruned to 30cm (12") immediately following planting to encourage more shoots to be produced. Primocane varieties have an upright growth habit and do not require supports for their stems.
More Info
Water well for the first year until blackberry plants are fully established. Cover the plants with netting to protect the crop from birds as blackberry fruits begin to develop. Blackberries can be harvested from August onwards. Prune primocane Blackberry plants to ground level each February and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer.
