Description
This neat little Blackberry is just the thing if you have limited space. With a dwarf, compact habit, Blackberry ‘Opal’ forms an upright bush of only 90cm (36") tall - just perfect for growing in patio containers, or wherever space is at a premium. A bumper harvest of blackberries with a deliciously sweet flavour can be harvested from thornless stems in late summer and autumn. Like all Blackberries, it will attract a host of pollinating insects to its blooms, but takes up a fraction of the space of traditional cultivars. Height and spread: 90cm (36").

1 x 9cm pot-grown blackberry bush (81185)
3 x 9cm pot-grown blackberry bushes (T81186P)

How to Grow
Plant blackberry ‘Black Opal’ in containers using a good quality, well drained compost such as John Innes No. 2. Position them in a sunny spot and water well.
More Info
Feed and water Blackberry bushes regularly throughout the growing season. Cover the plants with netting to protect the crop from birds as blackberry fruits begin to develop. Blackberries can be harvested from August onwards. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over summer to ground level. Canes which have not fruited should be left intact.
