Description

Vitex agnus-castus 'Queen Bee' is a compact, upright shrub celebrated for its abundant lavender-purple flower clusters and fragrant foliage. This relatively new cultivar has been specifically chosen for its impressive flowering capabilities and its tidy, rounded growth habit, making it an attractive addition to any garden.

Reaching a height of approximately 120 cm (47 in) and a spread of 100 cm (39 in), 'Queen Bee' exhibits a bushy, upright form. Its medium green, deeply lobed palmate leaves are aromatic, enhancing the sensory experience of the garden. The shrub produces dense spikes of tubular flowers that bloom from midsummer to early autumn, offering a long-lasting display of color and a light, pleasant fragrance that draws in pollinators.

Best suited for full sun, this hardy plant thrives in well-drained soil and is adaptable to various soil types. Once established, it requires moderate watering and demonstrates drought tolerance. 'Queen Bee' is an excellent choice for pollinator gardens, borders, or as a compact feature shrub, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial wildlife. Regular pruning after flowering will help maintain its shape and promote vigorous growth.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water Vitex plants regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established, Vitex require only occasional attention. Prune annually for a more compact look.
