Flowering Months

The spreading stems of this vigorous, mat-forming perennial are covered with glossy, dark green foliage that forms dense ground cover with time. Vinca minor 'Bowles's Variety' is decorated with bright purple flowers from late spring, which continue sporadically throughout the summer. This reliable evergreen perennial is extremely versatile and low maintenance, thriving in virtually any site and soil - even difficult dry shade. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 50cm (19").

How to Grow

Grow Vinca plants in borders outdoors in any moist, well drained soil. Periwinkle is a particularly tough plant, and will thrive in any garden position, provided that the soil isn’t dry.

Feed and water Vinca plants regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Once established Vinca plants require only occasional attention. Pruning Periwinkle is best undertaken in spring when they can be cut back hard to restrict their growth. Caution: harmful if eaten.
