Description

Veronica x spicata 'Red Fox' is a captivating variety of Veronica spicata, celebrated for its stunning red flower spikes that infuse gardens with a burst of color and vertical elegance. From late spring through mid-summer, this cultivar showcases dense clusters of bright red tubular blooms, creating a striking visual display that draws the eye and enlivens any landscape. The foliage consists of lance-shaped, medium green leaves that form a tidy basal clump, allowing the flowering stems to rise gracefully above, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the plant.

This vibrant perennial thrives best in full sun, where it can achieve optimal flower color and performance, although it is also capable of tolerating light shade. It flourishes in well-drained soil and demonstrates adaptability to various soil types, including sandy and loamy conditions. Once established, 'Red Fox' exhibits impressive drought tolerance, requiring only moderate watering during dry spells, making it a low-maintenance choice for gardeners looking to add a splash of color without excessive upkeep.

In addition to its visual allure, Veronica x spicata 'Red Fox' plays a vital role in supporting garden biodiversity by attracting pollinators such as bees and butterflies. This makes it an excellent addition to borders, rock gardens, and mixed perennial beds, where it can contribute to a lively ecosystem. Hardy throughout the UK, this cultivar can withstand typical winter conditions without the need for extra protection, ensuring that its vibrant display returns year after year, delighting both gardeners and visitors alike. Height: 60 cm (24 in) Spread: 30 cm (12 in).

How to Grow
When planting Veronica, choose a sunny or semi-shaded position in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Veronica prefers a fertile, humus rich soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Deadhead faded veronica flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut back old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
