Mounds of aromatic, drought-tolerant foliage
Spikes of tubular pink flowers over a long period
Drought tolerant - great for rockeries and containers
Rich rosy-pink flower spikes and aromatic evergreen foliage make Teucrium chamaedrys 'Rose' a superb choice for adding structure and long-lasting colour into the driest gardens. This compact germander forms neat low mounds of glossy green leaves that release a pleasant scent when brushed against, while upright spikes packed with small tubular flowers attract bees throughout summer. Its naturally tidy habit makes it excellent for edging paths and borders, where the evergreen foliage provides year-round definition. Tough, versatile and full of character, this variety suits gravel gardens, prairie planting, cottage garden styles and formal layouts alike. Ultimate height: 30cm (12in). Ultimate spread: 45cm (18in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Teucrium chamaedrys 'Rose' should be grown in full sun and very well-drained soil, ideally alkaline to neutral, as it performs best in dry, low-fertility conditions. Plant in a sheltered position where winter wet is minimal, such as raised beds, gravel gardens, or sunny borders with sharp drainage. Water regularly only during establishment, then reduce irrigation significantly, as mature plants are drought tolerant. Avoid rich feeding, since overly fertile soil encourages weak, floppy growth; a light mulch of gravel is preferable to organic mulches that retain moisture. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage dense growth, and carry out a harder prune in early spring if plants become woody or untidy.
