Description

Streptocarpus 'Carys' dazzles with its two-toned flowers, boasting pale blue upper lobes and rich pansy purple lower lobes that capture the eye from across the room. Admire them up close and each bloom, up to 4.8cm across, reveals intricate jewel-like detailing, rising on slender stems above rosettes of narrow, wrinkled green leaves.

Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, this Cape Primrose is exceptionally free flowering, delivering a spectacular display from spring to autumn for up to nine months. Its upright habit and striking colours make it a superb focal point on a table, shelf, sunny windowsill, or in a conservatory. Easy to grow and reliably prolific, Streptocarpus 'Carys' is perfect for beginners and seasoned growers alike, offering a lasting, exotic floral display that brings charm and elegance to any indoor space. Ultimate height and spread: 30cm (12in).

How to Grow

March to September

Place your Streptocarpus in a bright spot in indirect light out of the midday sun. Do not expose to hot, direct sunlight. An east or west-facing windowsill is perfect. About once a week water sparingly when the compost begins to dry out, keeping plants on the dry side. Never leave them to sit in water. Overwatering can be fatal. Feed weekly with a high potash tomato feed which will boost flower production. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. As the plant grows, repot as necessary in spring into a slightly larger pot.

October to February

Move to a south facing windowsill if possible. Keep drier over the winter, only watering occasionally and sparingly when the compost dries out. Don’t feed. Remove any dead leaves and debris to minimise the chance of pests and diseases.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
