Description

Spring Apricot Shades Mix offers an enchanting ensemble of apricot tones that will bring glowing sunshine into your spring garden. Why not also bring spring into the house and use this perfect pair in vase arrangements where you can enjoy the perfume of Narcissus ‘Tahiti’ up close. Both varieties have sturdy stems so they’re ideal for cutting.

Spring Apricot Shades Mix contains the following varieties:

  • Narcissus ‘Tahiti’ - an award-winning variety with large, fragrant, double flowers up to 11cm in diameter. Golden yellow petals surround a central frill of tropical orange. This long-lasting variety is suitable for naturalising, and if left undisturbed will deliver a display every spring for years to come. Flowers March-April. Height: 40cm (16in). Spread: 15cm (6in).
  • Tulip ‘Orange Queen’ - a vigorous Darwin hybrid with large blooms on tall, strong stems. The giant flowers come in a brilliant orange-red with a glowing yellow base. These superb Darwin hybrids are exceptionally weather-resistant, and unlike many other varieties, have good perennial qualities so you can look forward to them returning year after year. Flowers April to May. Height: 55cm. Spread: 20cm (8in).

How to Grow

Plant tulip bulbs in late summer or autumn. Tulips will grow well in any moist, well drained soil, except for particularly wet soils. Choose a sunny position that is sheltered from strong winds. When planting tulip bulbs avoid shallow planting as this may reduce the winter cold period that is essential for tulip bulbs to produce flowers in spring. Plant them at a depth of 15cm (6") and at a distance of 13cm (5") apart.

Daffodil and narcissus bulbs are easy to establish in any moist, well drained soil. Plant the bulbs in full sun or semi-shade at a depth of approximately 10cm (4") and at a distance of 10cm (4") apart. Narcissus and Daffodils look particularly eye-catching when grown as drifts in borders or informal areas of grass. For a really natural effect, cast the bulbs across the area and plant them where they land.

More Info

After flowering, deadhead the faded flowers and allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it in June or July. This will help to feed the bulb for the following year.

When growing daffodils and narcissus that are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back.

Caution: Contact with daffodil and tulip bulbs may irritate the skin and eyes. Harmful if eaten.
