Description

Salvia greggii 'Peach Cobbler' is a delightful evergreen perennial that captivates with its compact form and stunning display of vibrant peach-orange flowers. This charming plant thrives in sunny environments, making it an excellent choice for borders and containers where it can infuse a warm burst of color. Its prolific blooming from late spring through autumn not only enhances the visual appeal of any garden but also serves as a magnet for pollinators, including bees and hummingbirds, thereby contributing to the ecological health of the landscape.

The growth habit of 'Peach Cobbler' is characterized by a bushy, upright structure, reaching an ultimate height and spread of approximately 45 cm (18 inches). Its foliage consists of small, aromatic green leaves that possess a subtly textured surface, adding an additional layer of interest to the plant. In mild UK climates, this salvia remains evergreen, providing year-round greenery that complements its vibrant floral display. The plant flourishes best in full sun, where it can fully express its flowering potential, and it adapts well to well-drained soils, demonstrating resilience even in poorer conditions once established.

Maintenance of Salvia greggii 'Peach Cobbler' is relatively straightforward, requiring only light pruning after flowering to maintain its shape and promote new growth. With a hardiness that allows it to withstand temperatures as low as -5°C, this perennial is a robust addition to any garden. Its versatility makes it particularly suitable for various settings, from elegant containers to sunny borders, while its appeal to wildlife enhances the garden's biodiversity. In essence, 'Peach Cobbler' is not just a plant; it is a vibrant celebration of color and life, perfect for those seeking to elevate their outdoor spaces.

How to Grow

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Water regularly until salvia plants are fully established. Deadhead faded flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced and feed container specimens every 3-4 weeks to promote continuous flowering. In autumn, lightly trim, leaving some top growth for protection over winter. Saliva greggii cultivars are hardy down to -10 to -15C provided they are given adequate drainage. In spring, once growth recommences, prune back to a low framework.
