Description

Rudbeckia x hybrida 'Summerdaisy's Golden Sun' is a striking perennial that brings a burst of vibrant color to gardens during the summer and autumn months. Known for its large, daisy-like flowers, this plant showcases an eye-catching golden-yellow hue complemented by dark brown central cones. The profusion of blooms begins in mid-summer and continues into early autumn, ensuring that your garden remains lively and visually appealing for an extended period. This variety not only enhances the aesthetic of your outdoor space but also plays a vital role in supporting local wildlife, as its flowers attract a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies.

The plant's robust, upright stems provide a sturdy structure that typically eliminates the need for staking, making it an excellent choice for gardeners seeking low-maintenance options. The foliage consists of coarse, dark green, ovate leaves that create a lush backdrop for the brilliant flowers, enhancing the overall visual impact of the garden. 'Summerdaisy's Golden Sun' thrives best in full sun, where it can fully express its flowering potential, and it adapts well to a range of soil types, although it prefers well-drained, moderately fertile conditions.

Hardy in UK climates, this perennial can withstand winter temperatures as low as -15°C, making it a reliable choice for various gardening environments. Once established, it demonstrates impressive drought tolerance and is resistant to most pests and diseases, further reducing the need for intensive care. This makes it an ideal candidate for borders, wildflower gardens, and meadow planting schemes, where its cheerful blooms can create a stunning display while contributing to the overall health of the ecosystem. How to Grow
Pot up rudbeckia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When plants are well-grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them outdoors in sun or partial shade. Rudbeckia enjoys a fertile, preferably heavy soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. Coneflowers resent drought and dislike soils that dry out in summer.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rudbeckia plants regularly. Deadhead faded rudbeckia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.
