Description

The Climbing Rose 'Sabrina' is a stunning French cultivar that captivates with its charming, vintage-style blooms and vigorous growth, making it an ideal selection for those who desire a romantic yet resilient climbing rose. This variety beautifully marries elegance with practicality, offering a delightful fragrance and a striking visual appeal, perfect for gardeners who appreciate low-maintenance plants that still make a bold statement in their landscape. With creamy white flowers featuring a soft apricot center that mature to a near-white hue, 'Sabrina' showcases double, cupped blooms that can reach up to 9 cm in diameter, all while producing clusters of flowers throughout the season.

Its glossy, dark green foliage enhances the beauty of the pale blooms, and with a height of up to 2.5 meters and a width of about 2 meters, it is well-suited for trellises and walls. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and requiring well-drained, fertile soil, this rose is not only a feast for the eyes but also a resilient choice for any garden, needing regular watering and early spring pruning to flourish.

In 2015, this remarkable plant earned the esteemed ADR (Allgemeine Deutsche Rosenneuheitenprüfung) award, showcasing its exceptional performance in gardens and impressive resistance to diseases. Additionally, it clinched the Silver Medal at the Baden-Baden competition in 2013 and the Gold Medal at the Hradec competition in 2015, further solidifying its reputation.

With its elegant climbing nature, it is perfect for enhancing trellises, fences, and arbors, while also serving as a vibrant border or edging along garden paths. This versatile plant beautifully complements other perennials and shrubs, making it a must-have for any garden enthusiast.

How to Grow
Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
