How to Grow
Your bare roots should be planted at the earliest opportunity following delivery. Once planted, they will remain in their dormant state until the spring. Above ground you won't see much happening over the winter, but the roots will be establishing ready for your roses to grow away quickly once the warmer weather arrives. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late winter, begin pruning shrub roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce strong young stems by up to a third of their length. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
