Description

The 'Green With Envy' rose is a remarkable Floribunda cultivar celebrated for its striking lime-green flowers and impressive longevity, both on the plant and as a cut flower. Developed by Rob Somerfield of Glenavon Roses in New Zealand, this rose made its debut in 2020 after nearly three decades of meticulous breeding aimed at introducing a green rose to the market. It is a standout choice for any garden, providing a rare color and an extended blooming season.

Its durability and visual charm make it an excellent option for gardeners in search of something truly unique. With its vibrant lime-green blooms that deepen in color as they mature, medium-sized semi-double flowers, and a growth habit that allows for a slightly spreading form, this rose thrives in various settings. Its dark green foliage beautifully contrasts with the blooms, enhancing its visual appeal. Flowering from spring to autumn, it ensures a long-lasting display of color, while its frost tolerance makes it suitable for cooler climates. Additionally, the blooms maintain their beauty when cut, making them perfect for floral arrangements.

Recognized with the People's Choice Award at the 2013 New Zealand Rose Society International Rose Trials, this rose is versatile enough for mixed borders, courtyard gardens, or container planting, adding an eye-catching element to any garden design.

Growth Habit: height approximately 1–1.1 meters

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
