Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

A modern rose with antique English blooms. The seductive plum-purple flowers exude a heady fragrance that will rival your favourite perfume! Shorter than traditional floribunda types, Rose ‘Ebb Tide’ makes a lovely specimen shrub for patio pots as well as mixed borders. Disease resistant plants are free branching, going on to produce a succession of fruity flowers through the summer. Height and spread: 75cm (30").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Rosehips and petals can be used in making syrups and the petals will add flavour to cold drinks or fruit dishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Companion planting: Try growing roses with garlic, chives, thyme or mint to help deter aphids and blackfly.

Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.
