Autumn fruiting.

One of the best and most reliable autumn fruiting varieties, producing a heavy crop of large, attractive red berries from late August until mid October. The delicious fruits have an excellent flavour and firm texture making them ideal for eating fresh from the plant or freezing for another day. The short, sturdy canes of Raspberry ‘Autumn Bliss’ makes them perfect for growing in smaller gardens and containers as they don’t require supports for their stems. An excellent British bred variety, with good resistance to raspberry root rot disease. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 50cm (20").

All of our raspberries have been inspected by the Ministry of Agriculture for pests and diseases and certified. The bare root plants are hand graded and carefully selected before packing.

Water well for the first year until plants are fully established. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. Prune raspberry canes to ground level each February and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer. Culinary note: Suitable for freezing.
Grow raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. The stems of summer fruiting raspberries will require support. Before planting, prepare a framework of wires stretched horizontally between two sturdy 1.8m (6') posts. Autumn fruiting varieties will not require supports.Plant raspberry canes in a row against the wire supports, allowing a distance of 60cm (24") between plants. Water well. Canes should be pruned to 15cm (6") above ground level immediately after planting to encourage more shoots to be produced.

Fruit from year one. 2010-04-10

I bought three of these last year. The great thing about these raspberries are that they fruit on the current year's canes. This means you'll get fruit from year one, instead of having to wait until the following year, as you do with the summer raspberries. I wish I'd bought more of these and fewer summer ones now, definitely more fruit per cane.

You will need a LARGE freezer 2010-03-10

I bought twelve of these canes three years ago. They grow on a fairly exposed site but have never failed to produce the most succulent, large berries. I seem to get at least two crops, and this year, just when I thought the last of the berries had been picked, lo and behold another batch of fruit! I have made them into jam, sauces, desserts and coulis.. all delicious. I have at least two drawers full of frozen ones for the winter too. I have recommended these to friends who have had equal levels of sucess. I am ordering twelve more canes this Autumn!
