Description

Nepeta faassenii 'Junior Walker' is a delightful, compact variety of catmint that has been developed from the well-loved ‘Walker’s Low’. This cultivar retains the same enchanting fragrance and extended blooming period as its predecessor but in a more petite and manageable size, making it an excellent choice for gardeners with limited space. Its versatility shines in sunny borders, as edging plants, or even in containers, allowing for creative landscaping options that can brighten up any outdoor area.

From late spring through autumn, 'Junior Walker' produces an abundance of soft lavender-blue flowers that create a stunning visual display. The plant's grey-green foliage forms a low, spreading mound, adding texture and interest to the garden. Unlike ‘Walker’s Low’, this variety is more compact, making it particularly well-suited for smaller gardens or tight spaces where larger plants might overwhelm the landscape. Additionally, being a sterile variety means it won’t self-seed, allowing for a longer blooming season without the worry of unwanted seedlings.

This catmint is not only aesthetically pleasing but also beneficial for the environment, as it attracts bees and butterflies, providing essential support for pollinators throughout the summer months. Once established, 'Junior Walker' is drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun with well-drained soil, making it a low-maintenance option for busy gardeners. Its aromatic foliage is unappealing to deer and rabbits, ensuring that your garden remains intact. For optimal growth, a simple trim after the first flowering can encourage a continued display of blooms, making this plant a charming and practical addition to any garden. Height: 30 cm (12 in) Spread: 70 cm (28 in)
