Description

Lobelia × speciosa 'Starship Burgundy' is a captivating herbaceous perennial that stands out in any garden with its vibrant burgundy-red flowers and impressive vertical growth. As a member of the Starship series, this plant is designed for optimal garden performance, showcasing a compact and tidy form that ensures it remains an attractive feature throughout the summer months. Its long-lasting blooms not only enhance the visual appeal of borders but also contribute to a lively garden atmosphere.

The plant produces striking, vivid flowers that are borne on sturdy, well-branched stems, creating a stunning display from mid to late summer, often extending into early autumn. This extended blooming period is particularly beneficial for attracting a variety of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for those looking to support local wildlife. The dark green foliage, which may take on a bronze tint, provides a beautiful contrast to the rich flower color, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the garden.

Lobelia × speciosa 'Starship Burgundy' thrives best in full sun to partial shade, with optimal flowering occurring in bright sunlight. It prefers moist, fertile, and well-drained soil, as it is sensitive to both prolonged dry spells and waterlogged conditions. This hardy perennial is well-suited for various garden settings, including borders, wildlife gardens, and container arrangements, and it can withstand temperatures as low as -10°C, making it a resilient choice for UK gardens. Height: 60 cm (24 in) Spread: 45 cm (18 in)
