Description
  • Height: Easily maintained at 2m to 3m
  • Growth rate: Very fast, expect 70-90cm per year
  • Evergreen

The Leyland Cypress is a popular choice for hedging in the UK, as it is fast-growing and evergreen, making a useful screening plant. Leyland Cypress has green foliage, which is a strong background and makes a striking evergreen specimen plant. The feathery foliage is accompanied by small, round cones later in summer.

This well known conifer can grow to 12 metres, but will take 20 years or more to reach this height. Leylandii can be clipped as a hedge, as long as this done regularly. Height: up to 25m (80'). Spread: 5m (15').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

More Info
Leyland Cypress may be grown as an individual specimens requiring little maintenance. Alternatively, hedges are simple to keep in shape, but will require clipping 2 or 3 times per year. When pruning coinifers, always cut plants back to healthy green shoots. Avoid cutting into old wood, as this unlikely to re-sprout. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
