Description

Compact but bold, Hydrangea paniculata ‘Little Hottie First Editions®' rewards with dense, conical panicles of florets that open lime-green before shifting to sparkling white, and then soft blush pink in the autumn. Its naturally well-branched, rounded habit means strong stems hold the blooms solidly from top to bottom, and it withstands summer heat without the flowers going brown.

Bred for resilience, Hydrangea 'Little Hottie' requires minimal pruning yet always looks beautifully shaped. More drought tolerant than mophead hydrangeas, this compact variety is great for containers as well as border plantings. Ultimate height and spread: 90cm to 1.5m (3 to 4.9ft).

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
This hydrangea flowers on new wood - prune in late winter or early spring before new growth commences. Remove any weak or crossing growth and prune back all stems about a third to half to leave a low framework. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: All parts of hydrangea will upset the stomach if eaten. The foliage may also aggravate skin allergies.
