Description

Hydrangea paniculata ‘Framboisine® Rensam’ is a delightful compact variety of panicle hydrangea, renowned for its stunning and enduring conical flower clusters. These blooms begin their journey in mid-summer as creamy-white, gradually transitioning through a spectrum of soft pink before culminating in vibrant raspberry hues by autumn. This remarkable color progression not only adds visual interest throughout the seasons but also makes it an excellent choice for mixed borders and container gardening, where its beauty can be appreciated from various angles.

The flower panicles of ‘Framboisine® Rensam’ typically measure between 15 to 20 centimeters in length, creating a striking display that captures attention. The plant maintains a compact, rounded form, which means it stays neat and tidy without the need for excessive pruning. Its dark green, ovate leaves serve as a lovely backdrop, enhancing the visual appeal of the changing blooms. This hydrangea thrives in conditions ranging from full sun to partial shade, preferring moist, well-drained soil, making it versatile enough to adapt to various garden settings, including urban environments.

To ensure robust flowering, this hydrangea benefits from summer fertilization and a layer of winter mulch, which helps protect the roots during colder months. It blooms on new wood, allowing for late winter pruning to manage its size or rejuvenate growth as needed. Hardy throughout the UK, ‘Framboisine® Rensam’ can withstand temperatures as low as -15 °C, making it a resilient choice for gardeners looking to add a splash of color and charm to their outdoor spaces. Height: 120 cm (47 in) Spread: 120 cm (47 in)

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.

Water regularly until plants are fully established.

Pruning:

Hydrangea paniculata flowers on the current season’s growth and will flower better if pruned annually. Establish a permanent framework to the desired height and every spring prune back all growth to this framework. At the same time, remove any dead or damaged growth.

After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
