Description
Throughout summer, Honeysuckle 'Gold Flame' bears whorls of tubular flowers, with an irresistibly rich, heady scent. The perfumed blooms are pink on the outside and orange-yellow within, followed by glossy red berries which are loved by birds. In sheltered gardens and particularly mild winters this woody climber remains semi-evergreen, retaining its rounded green foliage all year round. This RHS AGM variety makes a lovely addition to walls and fences, or trained onto pillars and pergolas. Unlike many climbing Lonicera, Honeysuckle 'Gold Flame' doesn’t have naturally twining stems, so it will require tying in to supporting wires. Height and spread: 5m (16’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant honeysuckle against a suitable, sturdy support such as trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas, in fertile, moist, free draining soil. Poor soils can be improved by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade. When growing honeysuckle in patio containers, use soil based compost.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water lonicera regularly throughout the growing season until they are fully established. Check young shoot tips regularly as honeysuckle plants are susceptible to aphid damage, particularly when grown in full sun. Prune immediately after flowering, first removing the oldest stems, then reducing the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant in spring. Caution: Honeysuckle berries are harmful if eaten.
