Description
Hamamelis are popularly grown for their autumn colour and frost resistant fragrant spider like flowers during the cold winter months. This vase-shaped, slow growing shrub has ascending branches and broadly oval, green leaves. The foliage turns a spectacular display of yellow and orange in autumn before falling. In the depths of winter, coral red flowers create a fabulous, fragrant display upon leafless stems. Hamamelis x intermedia ‘Ruby Glow’ is a hardy, deciduous shrub that makes a spectacular winbter feature for borders and the edges of woodland gardens. Height: to 4m (12'). Spread: to 4m (12').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Witch Hazel in borders in non-alkaline, rich fertile, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil to improve its structure and fertility.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants become established. Prune hamamelis in spring, immediately after flowering. Remove any damaged or diseased stems and lightly shape the plant. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
