Description

Foxglove lutea is a charming perennial plant that captivates with its subtle beauty and gentle hues. This species is characterized by its slender spikes adorned with soft yellow, tubular flowers, which are delicately marked with faint brown veining. While the flowers are smaller compared to the more commonly known Digitalis purpurea, they are produced in abundance and arranged in a graceful manner, creating a lovely display that enhances any garden setting. The blooming period typically spans from early to mid-summer, specifically from June to July, making it a delightful addition to seasonal gardens.

At the base of Foxglove lutea, you will find a tidy clump of narrow, grey-green foliage that complements the flowers beautifully. This plant's naturalistic appearance makes it an excellent choice for wildflower gardens, shady borders, or the edges of woodlands, where it can blend seamlessly with its surroundings. It thrives best in partial shade and prefers well-drained, humus-rich soils, which help to support its growth and flowering. Its adaptability to various garden environments makes it a versatile option for gardeners looking to create a serene and inviting atmosphere.

In addition to its aesthetic appeal, Foxglove lutea plays a vital role in supporting local ecosystems by attracting bees and other pollinating insects. This characteristic not only enhances biodiversity but also contributes to the overall health of the garden. Furthermore, this species is more reliably perennial than its cousin, Digitalis purpurea, and is hardy enough to withstand the climate in most parts of the UK without requiring additional protection. With its understated elegance and ecological benefits, Foxglove lutea is a wonderful choice for any garden enthusiast. Height: 60cm (2 ft). Spread: 30cm (1 ft).

How to Grow
Although foxgloves prefer a fertile, moist soil, they will happily tolerate almost any soil except those that are excessively dry or waterlogged.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
