Description

Foxglove 'Foxlight Plum Gold' is a striking and compact perennial that captivates with its rich plum-purple flowers, which are beautifully complemented by their golden-yellow throats. This variety features upright spikes of tubular blooms that create a stunning visual display in any garden setting. Known for its extended blooming period, 'Foxlight Plum Gold' showcases its vibrant colors from late spring through to late summer, making it a delightful addition to seasonal gardens.

As a member of the Foxlight series, this plant is a hybrid derived from Digitalis × valinii, specifically bred to enhance its hardiness and sterility. The compact, bushy growth habit of 'Foxlight Plum Gold' makes it an excellent choice for borders, containers, and smaller garden spaces, allowing gardeners to enjoy its beauty without requiring extensive planting areas. Additionally, its sterile flowers prevent self-seeding, ensuring that the plant maintains its vibrant display without the risk of overcrowding.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, 'Foxlight Plum Gold' plays a vital role in supporting garden biodiversity, as it attracts bees and other pollinators. This makes it not only a visually appealing choice but also an environmentally friendly one. Thriving in moist yet well-drained soil, it can flourish in both sunny and partially shaded locations, making it versatile for various planting schemes, whether contemporary or cottage-style. Hardy in most regions of the UK, this perennial is a reliable and colorful addition to any garden. Height: 60cm (2 ft). Spread: 45cm (1.5 ft).

How to Grow
Although foxgloves prefer a fertile, moist soil, they will happily tolerate almost any soil except those that are excessively dry or waterlogged.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Water foxglove plants regularly until fully established. Foxgloves self-seed freely. If seedlings are not wanted, deadhead stems of foxglove flowers as the blooms fade. In autumn, cut back old stems to encourage plenty of new side shoots. Caution: All parts of foxgloves are toxic if eaten, and contact with the foliage may irritate the skin and eyes.
