Description

Escallonia 'Red Elf' is a charming, compact evergreen shrub that captivates with its glossy leaves and striking red flowers, which bloom profusely throughout the summer and into the autumn months. The vibrant, tubular blossoms create a stunning display, adding a splash of color to any garden setting. This shrub not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of your outdoor space but also serves a vital role in supporting local wildlife, as its flowers are particularly attractive to pollinators like bees and butterflies, making it a wonderful addition for those looking to promote biodiversity in their gardens.

With its dense, bushy growth habit and small, dark green leaves, Escallonia 'Red Elf' is an excellent choice for various landscaping applications. It works beautifully as a low hedge, providing structure and privacy without overwhelming the space. Additionally, it can be used effectively in borders, coastal gardens, or even in containers, allowing for versatility in design. The evergreen foliage ensures that this shrub remains visually appealing throughout the year, offering consistent interest and a lush backdrop for other plants.

This resilient plant thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, demonstrating a remarkable tolerance for dry conditions once established. Its ability to withstand salt and wind makes Escallonia 'Red Elf' particularly suitable for coastal areas or exposed sites, where other plants might struggle. While it is hardy in most regions of the UK, providing some shelter in colder climates can enhance its growth and longevity. Overall, this shrub is a fantastic option for gardeners seeking a low-maintenance yet vibrant addition to their landscape. Height: 60 cm (24 in) Spread: 75 cm (30 in)
