Description
A sea of English bluebells rekindles memories of springtime woodland walks, when the days start to lengthen and the weather warms up. The nodding, violet-blue flowers of these hardy, native bulbs attract insects to their delicately scented flowers. At their happiest when growing in the dappled shade of deciduous trees, English bluebells are ideal for a woodland garden or naturalising in informal areas of grass. These vigorous beauties will multiply each year to form a dense carpet of spring colour. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 8cm (3").
Bluebell bulbs are ideal for autumn planting. For spring planting choose bluebells in the green. Only cultivated stock used.

How to Grow
Plant bluebells in the dappled shade of deciduous trees. English bluebell bulbs thrive in reliably moist, well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting, to improve less than ideal soils. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4") and 10cm (4") apart. For natural looking drifts of bluebell flowers, gently cast the bulbs across the planting area and plant them where they land!
More Info
Bluebells require reliably moist soil throughout summer. Water bulbs if necessary until they are fully established. When growing English bluebells, it is essential to allow their foliage to die back naturally as this will feed the bulb for the following year. Where bulbs are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back. Divide overcrowded clumps of bluebells in summer after flowering. Caution: Bluebells are an irritant to skin and eyes, and are harmful if eaten.
