Description

Doronicum orientale 'Magnificum' is a delightful perennial that heralds the arrival of spring with its cheerful display of vibrant colors, making it a perfect addition to borders and woodland gardens. This plant is known for its large, striking golden-yellow flowers that resemble daisies, which bloom from early to mid-spring. The bright blossoms are held aloft on slender, upright stems, creating a stunning contrast against the lush, broad, heart-shaped green leaves that form a dense mound at the base.

This perennial thrives in partially shaded areas, making it an excellent choice for brightening up woodland edges or any spot that receives dappled sunlight. Its cheerful blooms not only add a splash of color to the garden but also pair beautifully with spring bulbs and other shade-loving perennials, creating a harmonious and vibrant landscape. The combination of its golden flowers and the rich greens of surrounding foliage can transform any garden space into a lively spring oasis.

For optimal growth, Doronicum orientale 'Magnificum' prefers moist, well-drained soil, particularly in partial shade. However, it is adaptable enough to tolerate full sun in cooler regions, making it a versatile choice for various garden settings. This hardy perennial is well-suited to the UK climate, ensuring that it can thrive and bring joy to gardens year after year. With its easy-going nature and stunning visual appeal, it is a must-have for any gardener looking to enhance their spring garden display. Height: 60 cm (2 ft) Spread: 45 cm (1.5 ft)

How to Grow
Doronicum enjoys a moist, humus rich, well drained soil in partial or dappled shade. In wet soils Doronicum caucasicum may suffer from root rot, particularly during the cold, winter months. Improve wet soils prior to planting by adding plenty of grit and well rotted organic matter.
