Description

Dahlia ‘Strawberry Bon Bon’ is a delightful collarette-type dahlia that captivates with its charming antique salmon-pink flowers, each adorned with a striking lemon-yellow center. This compact variety blooms profusely from early summer until the first frosts, creating a vibrant display in any garden. Its growth habit is characterized by a tidy, stocky clump of serrated green leaves, making it not only a visual delight but also a practical choice for gardeners seeking both aesthetic appeal and longevity as a cut flower.

The flowers of ‘Strawberry Bon Bon’ are particularly noteworthy, reaching about 10 cm (4 inches) in diameter and showcasing a soft salmon-pink hue that beautifully contrasts with the bright yellow “crown” at their center. This continuous blooming from June through autumn ensures that your garden remains lively and colorful throughout the warmer months. As a clump-forming tuberous perennial, it is often treated as a half-hardy annual in cooler regions of the UK, allowing it to adapt to various climates while still providing a stunning floral display.

Ideal for patios, containers, mixed borders, and cutting gardens, this dahlia is not only visually appealing but also serves as a magnet for bees and other pollinators, enhancing the biodiversity of your garden. For optimal flowering, it thrives in full sun and prefers moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil. In colder areas, it is advisable to lift and store the tubers in a frost-free environment during winter, while in milder regions, a deep mulch can help protect them from the elements. With its charming appearance and pollinator-friendly nature, ‘Strawberry Bon Bon’ is a wonderful addition to any garden enthusiast's collection. Height: 90 cm (36 in) Spread: 60 cm (24 in)
