Description

Dahlia 'Hawaiian Sunrise' is a captivating decorative dahlia variety celebrated for its impressive, large blooms that showcase a stunning palette of sunset-inspired hues. The flowers exhibit a harmonious blend of warm apricot, soft peach, and delicate pink shades, evoking the serene beauty of a tropical sunrise. This vibrant cultivar adds a lively touch to garden borders and cutting gardens, flourishing throughout the summer months and extending its charm into the autumn season.

The blooms of 'Hawaiian Sunrise' are fully double, featuring a delightful array of pastel colors that intensify toward the center, creating a visually striking effect. The color spectrum ranges from gentle peach to vibrant coral-pink, perfectly capturing the essence of a Hawaiian dawn. These flowers are not only a feast for the eyes but also serve as excellent cut flowers, thanks to their sturdy, long stems and substantial bloom size, making them a popular choice for floral arrangements and bouquets.

To ensure optimal growth, 'Hawaiian Sunrise' thrives best in full sun and requires fertile, well-drained soil. Regular watering and feeding during the growing season are essential to promote continuous blooming, and deadheading spent flowers will encourage even more blossoms. As the first frosts approach, the tubers can be easily lifted and should be stored in a frost-free environment during winter, particularly in colder regions where they are not hardy. For those in the UK, it is important to note that these dahlias may require lifting or heavy mulching to survive the winter months. Height: 90 cm (35 in) Spread: 60 cm (24 in).

More Info
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required.
