Flowering Months
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. This variety of clematis flowers in early spring on the previous year's growth. Pruning should be undertaken in summer, after flowering. When pruning Clematis 'Winter Beauty', remove any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a pair of healthy buds to maintain the plant within its allotted space. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.
Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3") below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train clematis plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a freestanding climbing frame.

Always brings a smile to my face 2016-12-10

A couple of years ago I purchased Clematis 'Winter Beauty' from you and have trained it along wires. It always brings a smile to my face to see the pendulous clusters of "white bells" in winter when so little else is in bloom.

overwhelmed 2016-12-10

I have just had my “Winter Beauty” and I am overwhelmed by it, it is beautiful bigger than I thought it would be. I wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone

Patience is a Virtue 2015-11-29

Ours lives in a large soil-filled pot wrapped in cloth to protect it from the frost. Grew to about 8 foot tall but took about two years before it flowered. At present lots of ¼in long white buds: expect flowers. Last year flowered from mid-December almost to Spring. I see somebody has had a plant die. Is that clematis wilt?

T&M replied on 2015-11-30: Thank you very much for taking the time to post your review. I am glad that you have been happy with this product. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

Didn't survive its first spring. 2015-07-26

After initially growing well, overwintering successfully and flowering nicely, it completely died off from the stem bottoms upwards.

T&M replied on 2015-07-27: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointing results with your purchase. If you would like to contact our Customer Care Department at ccare@thompson-morgan.com, one of our agents will be more than happy to look in to this further for you.
