We have a Campsis in France where they are very popular. The summer temperatures there are late 20s to 30s with winter temperatures often colder than UK - so it is quite hardy. It's a very pretty plant BUT it can be a thug. Ours grew against the front wall of the house and provided a shady bower over a stone seat. However, we made the decision to remove it as we were at serious risk of losing our new (and expensive) roof! The flowers also attracts wasps and, as my husband is allergic to wasp stings, this was a second reason to remove it. The trunk when we cut it down was nearly 5" thick. The T&M information says they grow to a few feet but Campsis is very vigorous and can grow to 20m!
T&M replied on 2015-07-13: Thank you for your review. Campsis can grow several metres, however this variety in particular is specially bred to be more of a dwarfing variety, and will grow to 1.5 metres. The other variety that we sell, Campsis x tagliabuana 'Madame Galen', is a larger variety and can grow to around 10m.
