Description

Huge, glossy blackberries weighing up to 11g each are produced on this mid-season variety from Arkansas. The sweet, juicy berries are easily harvested from the erect, thornless stems of Blackberry 'Apache'. Blackberries are quick to establish and easy to grow, rewarding you with flavoursome fruits to add to desserts or make your own jams.

Our 1 year old plants are container grown rather than field grown to provide you with stronger, superior quality plants. Self fertile. Height: 2m (6'). Spread: 2.5m (8').

Estimated time to cropping once planted: 16-20 months.
Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

2 x 3 litre potted blackberry plants (TKA0884)
1 x 9cm pot-grown blackberry bush (14224)
2 x 9cm pot-grown blackberry bushes (T65245P)
1 x 3 litre potted blackberry plant (KA0883)

How to Grow
Plant blackberry bushes in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the ground prior to planting. When growing blackberry plants, support the stems on a framework of wires stretched between sturdy 1.8m (6') posts, or trained against a trellis or wall.
More Info
Water well for the first year until blackberry plants are fully established. Train the stems onto their supports as they grow. Cover the plants with netting to protect the crop from birds as blackberry fruits begin to develop. Blackberries can be harvested from July onwards. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over summer to ground level. Canes which have not fruited should be 'tied in' to their supports. In spring, while the ground is moist, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes to improve moisture retention throughout the summer.
